A Special Day?

Friday, July 21st, 2019

It started out like any other day would and had, but today was not a normal day. However, Samantha Hawkins couldn’t have told you when her alarm clock was buzzing its little speaker off to wake her up. Samantha slowly sat up in the bed that she shares with her husband before reaching out towards the alarm clock to turn it off. She didn’t want to be up at six in the morning, but there were things that she had to get done today. She reached up and adjusted her bra slightly as it was out of place from her sleeping in it overnight.

She sighed lightly, as she started to think to herself that maybe she should just go back to sleeping in the nude, but she knew that wasn’t really an option. She never knew when her daughter was going to come into their room at night, but more importantly there was the issues with the name that was by all accounts were her father. Zachary Raines, the man that hired a person not only to kill one of her boyfriends, her first girlfriend, but her own mother was on the loose. Just the thought of him being out of prison makes her skin crawl, because she has no clue what it is that he is going to do with his new found freedom due to his little break out attempt being successful. She just wanted to focus on getting back to the top of the professional wrestling world, but there was not going to be easily while he continued to be free.

Sam looked over her shoulder towards her husband’s side of the side to find that he was still asleep. Which, she couldn’t blame him for wanting sleep in on one his few days off from his garage. He’s been pulling double shifts and even bringing some of his work home with him to make up for the money that she wasn’t making by wrestling. The SCW wasn’t going to pay someone that signed a pay per appearance contract if they weren’t appearing on the shows or wrestling matches. She hated the fact that he had to kill himself so that they could pay their bills, because she couldn’t bring herself leave home, because of the fear of what might happened to her family.

Zachary Raine, had already taken the lives of three people close to her and there was also the fact that he attempted to take Chase’s and her life as well the night that he was finally caught by the authorities. She saw the guilt that was etched over Patience’s face when she learned that her sound had died while she was wrestling. She couldn’t bring her to chance something like that happening to her family as long as he is not behind bars. It’s killed her that she had to take part on Breakdown this week, because the SCW was threatening to void her contract if she didn’t turn up. She pushed herself up off the bed and walked over to where her bathrobe was located. She slipped into it a single fluid motion. She then took a scroll out of the room and down the hallway to her daughter’s room. Which for a moment panic set in to her bones when she saw that her daughter’s bed had not been slept in last night thanks to the door being left wide open.

However, that fear and panic subsides when she remembers that despite her better judgement, Alaska, talked her way into spending the night at one of her friend’s house last night so they could spend some time together before he friend left for the Swiss Alps. Sam didn’t know how her daughter managed to make friends with one of the riches girls in school, but she did.

“She’s alright, she’s just at Connie’s house.” Sam sighed, again as she walked away from her daughter’s bed room door on her way to the kitchen. She figured she was going to make her husband a little breakfast and bring it to him in bed as a way saying thank you for all that he’s done lately. Once in the kitchen she grabs her favorite skillet and places it on the stove. She looks out the window that just to the left of the stove and already the morning is looking like a beautiful morning. With a smile on her face she moves over to the fridge so that she can grab some eggs and butter. However, unbeknownst to Samantha while she is digging through the fridge looking the open stick of butter a person unknown if it was a man or a woman, but they were wearing a black mask, and they were staring at her through the very window.

“Let’s see… French Toast, scramble eggs…” Sam thought, as she was putting together a list of things she could potentially make her husband for breakfast. As she closes finds what she needs from the fridge, she closes it, and turns back to the stove. However, she doesn’t see the person that was staring at her, because by the time she turns around they are gone from the window. She places the butter and eggs down on the counter next to the stove and reaches up to turn it on low heat, but then she notices movement out in the yard when there’s supposed to be none. She stares out of the window trying to make heads or tails of what is going on.

“What’s co…?” A voice came from behind Samantha as well as a pair of two hands grabbing her shoulders. Considering that she already a little creeped out by what’s going on in the back yard she jumps nearly out of her skin as she turns with her fist clenched ready to fight whomever is standing behind her. Which just so happens be her husband, who is looking quite amused by her reaction.

“OH MY GOD! What are you doing up?” Sam asked, as any curious wife would ask when she’s trying to surprise her husband. However, her heart was still racing and she still didn’t know what was going on in the back yard either.

“Brennan called, apparently the shop is over booked today.” Samantha didn’t like the sound of that, because she knew what was going to come next. “He asked if I could come in for a few hours to help with the backlog.”

“Today is supposed to be your day off… your first Friday off in MONTHS.” Chase didn’t have to ask to know if she was upset over the situation. He could tell just by looking at her that she was livid over it. However, what else can he do? The shop is their main source of income at the moment, but more importantly than that if they took too long getting the cars fixed, customers would start looking elsewhere for their repairs. Needless to say he found himself in a lose-lose situation.

“I know, but money is tight. You know that I have to go.” Sam bite her bottom lip, because she knew that he was right, but that didn’t make her like it any more one bit. “And was something outside?”

“I’m not sure I thought I saw something moving, but I couldn’t see anything.” Sam moved to the side to allow her husband get closer to the window to look out of it. He does so and much like Sam he doesn’t see anything that sticks out and whatever that was moving had stopped by the time that he got to the window.

“I don’t see anything out there.” Chase turned back towards Samantha and give her quick kiss on the lips. “I’m going to get dressed for work. I’ll call you when I get a break for lunch and we can meet up.”

Normally, that would’ve been a date, but today was one of those off days when it’s not.

“I can’t meet you for lunch today. I’m meeting up with Minka, Patience, and Ashe to go shopping for some proper new gear for the new tag team.” Sam even though she was a little disappointed that she wasn’t going to be able to have lunch with her husband either she was more than a little happy to be going shopping. She knew that sooner or later this day was going to come for Minka and her to help Ashe buy some gear, but never did she think that she would be helping her cousin pick out new gear. Samantha had thought Patience was truly out of the business after what happened, but seeing her rush down to the ring for the Taking Hold of The Flame battle royal was breath taking. Not only that, but it made Sam regret that she didn’t join the match, because that would have been the first time that Minka, Patience, and herself would have been on the same show since they were broken up by the draft in IWC.

“Well, then I will see you at home for dinner then… my treat.” Sam could only smile at the gesture of her husband, but on the inside she was cringing a little bit. She loved fast food as much as anyone else. In fact, she probably eats more of it than some of her peers, but the thought of eating it on a day that she was going to try to make special for him was something that she wasn’t looking forward to. Seeing as she knew that’s what he meant by treating her to dinner, because as much as she loves her husband he isn’t much of a cook in the house. She’s the one that does all the cooking for the big family events and family dinners.

“Can I take a rain check on that?” Sam smiled playfully to let her husband know that she’s not trying to hurt his feelings over dinner. “I’d rather not have a pizza night on what I want to be a romantic night.”

“So you are saying that you’ll cook dinner tonight.” Chase was trying his best no to show his hurt feelings, but it hurt that Sam didn’t trust him to make dinner tonight. True, he isn’t the best cook in the world and most of the times that he has even attempted to cook dinner they end up eating take out. However, that was at the start of their relationship and since she’s been away from home more than usual since she signed with the SCW he’s actually had some time to practice cooking without her shutting him down. He still has a long way to go to match the level of cooking she can perform, but he can safely say that he is confident enough in his ability to say that he’s at least as good as a high school student who passed home economics class.

“Seeing as I was going to make you breakfast in bed, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch for me to.” Sam continued to smile as all she wanted to do deflect from the heart of the matter to one that is just as plausible. “I still have three hours till I have to meet up with the girls. So I can go grocery shopping to make sure I have everything I need for dinner tonight.”

Sam kissed her husband and even though she knew that he was still a little hurt that she wasn’t going to allow him to cook knew that he wasn’t going to boycott anything that she made for dinner. Chase with a halfhearted smile soon left the kitchen to go get ready for work. As he was leaving Sam turned her attention back to the stuff that she already pulled from the refrigerator and sighed. She went to all the trouble of getting it out just to put it back up. It couldn’t be helped… she could have left it out, but then it would have spoiled and she would have to get more when she was at the store. So she picked up all the items and returned them to their proper places, but while she was doing that once again there were movement outside in their yard. The person in the back mask was once again peering through the window at Samantha’s back.

I Ran Away?

Sunday, July 16th, 2019

For the first time in her career for as long as she can remember, Samantha actually had butterflies in her stomach. She wasn’t in a locker room, she wasn’t standing in the center of the ring, nor was she at home waiting for her water to break like she had been when she was pregnant with her daughter. No she was standing outside of a group home for orphaned kids. You think that stuff like orphans wouldn’t be a thing in this day and age, but it’s just as rampart as it was back during the Civil War era and further back.

She sadly wasn’t here to adopt anyone, but she knew that by the time she was ready to leave there was going to probably going to be at least a few kids that she would want to take home with her, but that would be irresponsible of her. Considering the money troubles she and her husband were already facing with their biological daughter. There was no way that no one would grant her custody of another child that she didn’t give birth to.

She as standing just outside of the dining hall, which just happened to be the largest room of the group home. She looked through the door at all the kids in the room just talking about random things and goofing off like kids do. She could tell that none of them knew what was going on, because none of them seemed to be on the lookout for her to enter the room. The kids ranged from pre-teens to young adults. For all she knew none of them could be wrestling fans meaning that this was going to be a waste of her time. However, just as she started to think that a group of girls moved and revealed alone boy that was wearing not just a wrestling shirt, not just an SCW shirt, but an Andrew Raynes’ shirt. Which the more she stared at the boy the more he started to look like a pre-teen version of her opponent.

The very man that she won the right to have a singles match against, but then had to pull out of it due to her family emergency. She knew that management and to some extent that Raynes’ understood why she couldn’t make it to the match, but this kid was going to be another story all together. She just stood there watching the kids interact for what seemed like forever until, Woody Hoyt, placed his hand on her shoulder to draw her out of her thoughts.

“Are you ready?” He asked, and Samantha in that moment thought he was going to say it again in a gruff voice and something like “No… I said ARE YOU REEADY!?” Like she could have swore she has heard someone say it like that before. Really if she were honest with herself and him… she wasn’t ready, but that’s not what she said.

“Yeah, I’m ready.” She handed him her purse before taking a deep breath as she pushed through the doors in to the dining hall. Woody just watched from the door as all the kids stopped what they were doing and just stared at Sam as she walked through to the center of the room. He knew that he couldn’t leave her alone in there. So he placed her purse down on a table next to the door and followed her in to the dining room. “Hi, everyone… I’m sure at least a few of you know who I am, but for those of you that don’t...”

“Yeah, you’re the coward that ran away.” Called out the boy in the Andrew Raynes’ shirt. Which of course got everyone chattering again amongst themselves and it was clear to her now after hearing her name mentioned several times that there was more than one wrestling fan in the group. Which made things little easier, because she didn’t have to spend time explaining who she is or what she does.

“Yes, I did run away.” Sam said, as she put air quotes around “run-a-way”. She had to forgive the boy a little bit, because he didn’t know what was going on in her personal life to know why she had to pull out of the match. “I’m not too full of myself to admit it. I…”

“You pissed yourself, because the sensei of hate was going to beat you and take the rubber match.” Sam just shrugged the comment off, because truthfully at the time she won the match against Raynes she hadn’t given it much thought that it was going to be the rubber match between the two of them.

“I’ve been humbled in the ring before by Andrew, by many people like Brady James. It wasn’t because he was super talented or anything, but because I overlooked him and dismissed him. That was his real talent, you know.” She looked around the room at the kid’s face and she knew that they didn’t have a clue who she was talking about. Which wasn’t surprising considering that Brady James was pretty much a one and done kid of talent that disappeared after GDW closed down. “He was the last guy you’d expect. He’d sneak up behind you and push you off your perch.”

“Boring… what does that nobody have to do with anything? Or are you hear to tell us you’re running again from greatest Adrenaline Champion of All time?” She shook her head no to the boy’s disappointment. Sam took her right hand and struck the palm of her left with it. The resounding crack of flesh hitting flesh was enough to wake up a few of the kids that were getting bored and laid their heads down.

“Lights out, no more belt and all things considered since then no more nothing for me.” Sam closed her eyes for a moment as she thought about that humiliating lose to Brady James that  really sent her one her downward spiral to the bottom that she has found herself stuck at. “After that loss the first couple of days, yeah, I was Debbie downer, then I was pissed, and then I went back to being a Debbie downer.”

“A real tumultuous time that it has been.” Woody chimed in as Samantha gave him one of those backhanded pats against the shoulder. However, as they were inside the dining hall talking with the kids… someone was out in the hallway looking in at them. However, they didn’t keep their attention on Sam and Woody for too long as they grabbed Sam’s purse and started to rummage through it looking for something.

“Things happen for a reason.” Sam opened her arms and motioned to the space around her. She kept them up for only a brief moment before she returns them to a folded position in front of her chest. “I push all my opponents who come at me, because I want them to become the best version of themselves that they can be.”

“Except when it’s Andrew Freaking Raynes… you run like a little…” The Raynes’ fans was about to call Samantha a little bitch. Everyone knew that was what he was trying to say, but before he could say it… in typical Woody Hoyt fashion he interrupted the boy.

“Shut yo mouth!” Everyone in the dining hall including the heckling Raynes’ fan got a kick out of Woody’s improvision on the line from Shaft. Just being hearing him work it in to the situation makes Sam want to repay him a little bit by taking him and her cousin out to see the sequel when it comes out.

“I have a personal matter that took me away for the fight last time, but I assure you all that I’m refocused. I’m ready for this match against Raynes.” The boy that had been heckling her so far just scoffs at the notion that she is ready for his hero. “I can assure you that I haven’ been sitting at home knee deep in Rocky Road ice cream. I’ve been working at getting better, because I don’t stop working just because I don’t have any eyes on me. I’m not some kind of diva like, Bree Lancaster, Andrew’s tag part or some frumpy house wife that’s just gonna sit back and make sure that I look good on TV.”

“Yet you’ve only won a handful of matches and the most of them are tag team matches.” She couldn’t deny those facts either, but she still had a way to turn the tables on the young man.

“Would you being saying that if I was Andrew Raynes talking about how my next shot at the tag team titles will be different than his past failures?” The Raynes fan in that moment finally knew he had met his match, because every time he tried to say something in retaliation he ended up closing his mouth without saying a word. The other kids in the dining hall just started to laugh at him instead of Samantha. However, out in the hallway the person that was going through Sam’s purse found what they were looking for.

Which just so happened to be Samantha’s house keys. The person doesn’t run off with them, but instead pulls out an Altoids tin can. The person opens it up and inside of it is some kind of brick of clay inside. The person doesn’t wastes any time in sticking the house key in to the clay to make an impression of it.

A Special Day? (Conclusion)

Friday, July 21st, 2019

It’s been roughly an hour since Chase Hawkins got ready for work and left his wife, Samantha Raine-Hawkins home alone, because their young daughter Alaska January “AJ” Hawkins is currently at a friend’s house having spent the night. Which is where we find ourselves now with Samantha home alone or so she things. She has finally gotten dressed and ready to go grocery shopping before she meets up with her friends and cousin to go wrestling gear shopping.

She’s wearing a simply outfit of just a pair of jeans and white t-shirt.  She starts to head down stairs from the second floor when she hears either the front or the back door open and close. It creeps Sam out a little bit that as she knows she’s the only one home at the moment and with what was going on with the movement in the backyard. She’s a little on edge deciding to get to the bottom of this quickly and hoping that it’s just her husband home already…

“Chase is that you?” No answer, which didn’t mean anything it’s possible that he didn’t hear her, because he left his ear plugs in.  However, she knew that he didn’t make that mistake too often and for all she knows it could be her daughter. She may have grew a little restless at her friend’s house and decided to come home now instead of later tonight. “AJ, sweetie is that you?”

No answer either time. Now Samantha is starting to get a little worried as to what is going on. It’s possible that she hear something that wasn’t there, because she perceived that there was something out in the yard earlier. She makes the decision to hurry out the door and to her car in case someone is in the house, but she never makes it.

Just as she comes off the last step she had to step on before hitting the landing step of the stairs she is grabbed from behind by a pair of arms. She tries to fight out of the hold and is certain she broke the person’s nose the moment that she rammed her head backwards in to it. However, she doesn’t have a chance to see if it work, but out of nowhere a second person arrives in a mask that places a rag over her mouth and nose with chloroform on it.

She tries to fit against the sleep that is coming on by holding her breath and continuing to struggle, but it’s all for naught. As the more she fought against her attacker the quicker her strength left her body.
